Connection for the Civil Construction Industry and Licensing Opportunities for People Wanting to Upskill

In late May, Toi EDA facilitated another Civil Construction Forum, providing valuable insights into current and upcoming projects. as well as long-term plans across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

The forum is significant as it facilitates robust discussions, offering insights into the current state of industry and promoting forward-thinking strategies for our local economy.

The forum also highlighted a strategic vision for sustainable growth and enhancement of the district's infrastructure. A huge thanks to the Opotiki District Council, Te Kaunihera ā-rohe o Whakatāne - Whakatāne District Council, and Bay of Plenty Regional Council for their valuable insights, and appreciation to all civil construction businesses for their presence and participation.

In addition to project discussions, we have also been creating pathways into these spaces by upskilling individuals through the Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers (WTR) and Class 2 Heavy Traffic (HT) programmes. It was inspiring to see the passion and enthusiasm of the tauira (students) as they embraced the opportunity for better employment prospects in our eastern Bay of Plenty region.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the forum. Also huge shout out to Volk & Co for the mouth watering kai & Te Runanga o Ngati Awa for hosting our future workforce
