Next Generation
With the natural resources we have available to us, the opportunities to expand our commercial and industrial activities here in the Eastern Bay of Plenty are boundless.
Toi EDA is investigating how the four main sectors intersect with established industry: dairy, forestry, heavy engineering, fibre processing and geothermal energy. By focusing on these industries and identifying opportunities to leverage each other’s activities we will be able to make the most of our abundant growth potential.
With natural advantages in clean energy (from geothermal, hydroelectric, solar, hydrogen investments, biofuels from the forestry sector, and others), a well networked rail system, and high-tech industries, the Eastern Bay of Plenty is looking to become New Zealand’s premier location for businesses that want to play leading roles in the circular economy and sustainability.
As the region looks at the rapidly growing global demand for added value solutions, bioactive and high-tech isolation processing capability is an area beginning to shape food production and one that will be explored more in the future.
