Successful launch of Māori & Pasifika business breakfasts for the eastern bay of Plenty

What an amazing start to the morning! A huge mihi to everyone that was involved in the Māori & Pasifika Parakuihi (Breakfast) this morning at Cafe Awa,

It was an incredible opportunity to catch and and meet new business owners from multiple industries throughout the Eastern Bay who share common goals and challenges.

A number of common themes and challenges shared included:

  • A feeling that more direct engagement could better support local Māori business owners, as many are experiencing feelings of isolation from mainstream business forums

  • The importance (but also lack of) transparency in local procurement policies

  • A strong focus on prioritising staff well-being and increased collaboration is felt within the Māori and Pasifika Business Community

  • Attendees also recognised the importance of building a qualified workforce, capable of taking on and leading large contracts or projects

We look forward to more exciting connections and development in this space

A huge thank you as well to Ake Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors for their sponsorship of the delicious kai and support to coordinate this event!
