It was a privilege to host and inspiring day with Economic Development Managers and special guests to explore the transformative power of aquaculture in Ōpōtiki. Thanks to our hosts, including Whakatōhea Mussels, Tio Ohiwa and the Ōpōtiki Harbour Team, for showcasing projects driving economic growth.

Whakatōhea's vision for a Greenshell™ Mussel farm over 20 years ago is now a reality, bolstering Ōpōtiki's potential in the global seafood market. As an additionn to this, the ongoing Ōpōtiki Harbour Development Project aims to enhance infrastructure to support this growth.

Led by community leaders, these initiatives are not just about economic development but also about improving social well-being.
